ASHU Hailshamy Receives President Adama Barrow's Prize as Best Graduating Lawyer of The Gambia Law School 2018
Among the 53 Young Lawyers Called to the Gambia Bar, Ashu Hailshamy Esq was the most outstanding. In his vote of thanks speech, he congratulated his colleagues who made it through the programe. In his words he stated that " Indeed, the journey was a horrendous one...We came from different boats but now we are in thesame ship...Just as Gambia Decided, we also decided and tje result is this marvelous achievement" In furthering his argument about the importance of the Legal profession he told his colleagues and the population that "As Lawyers, we are nkt ordinary professionals, we are referred to as primos inter pares that is to say, we are first amlng equals. We are jack of all trades and Masters of all".
He thanked the President of The Republic of The Gambia Adama Barrow and the entire People of Gambia for their hospitality. He stated "I want to thank Your Excellency, the government of the Gambia and the entire people of the Gambia for giving us an opportunity to be part of this program. Tbe hospitality, fratenity and security we have received here is overwelming".
The humble Lawyer went forth to tell his colleagues and all those present that "Being the most outstanding student does not mean I am more qualified than you, being the most outstanding student does nkt guarantee anything in life". He however called on them to remain Minsiters of Justice working in the Temple of Justice. He dedicated his achievement to his parents, thanked his Lecturers , Family, Friends and well wishers. After acknowledging everyone he ended his speech by saying " God Bless The Gambia".
