CAMEROON POLITICS OF LIES AND DECEIT-AYAH PAUL ABINE. by Ashu Shamy

INTRODUCTION:

What has now become common-place in the Cameroon political landscape, is the level at which the idea of  illusion  is placed at the center of Cameroon's politics which  lives the citizens in complete  deceit and confusion. Cameroon politics to those who know very well will term it a chess game. It is as good as a sowing and reaping game. Here you would find the level of distrust, confusion and deceit reigning vis a vis the citizens and the politicians. It is confident enough for me to say that, in Cameroon politicians tell the people what they want to hear and not the real situation. The use the citizens as a bridge to their political fortune.

 The Fact in issue.

           .
Paul Abine Ayah, who has served the Biya regime as Member of Parliament for 2 consecutive terms; a total of 10 years in the country's leading political party the CPDM, supposedly retired from the party just a few  years to the presidential Elections due to reasons best known by him.
After supposedly retiring from the CPDM, he however continued to be a parliamentarian until his mandate elapsed. At his resignation, Ayah joined another political party, this time, the people's Action Party (PAP), where he contested  for the presidential Elections and lost in 2011. During the Legislative and Municipal Elections of 2013, Ayah Paul still contested as an MP for PAP Akwaya constituency and lost.

Somehow  frustrated after expecting a presidential appointment as senator, Ayah paul had little to lean on so  later became actively involved in the Facebook world  to play the social media politics as  his fellow Cameroon facebook politicians in the likes of  Bara Mark Bareta, Ashu Hailshamy, Ateh Thompson Pepeah, Tata Kwawi Mbinglo, Angelbert Nde, Akoson Raymond, Stanley Eyongetta and a host of others where they constantly involved strong criticisms against the BIYA regime.
On a new stage on Facebook, Ayah Paul held pertinaciously to a light of condemnation and not just criticizing the regime in place which he often called  La Republique. Elsewhere, he developed a new and strong affection for the Southern Cameroons' National Council and  preached for its legality of claims.

Ayah Paul whom before this level, had already supposedly joined the SCNC movement and came tall at the death of the movement's Chairman one Chief Ayamba of Manyu Division of the south west region gained losts of support and solidarity. Yet at a particular level, lost more as you would find very little or no interests in his later posts and write-ups on his Facebook wall. He later joined others in commenting of other people's walls rather than posting on his own wall.

Ayah at some point witnessed a majority of the people asking him to take the lead of the SCNC movement. Others continued to maintained that Ayah was not the best choice for the movement. Some youth activists like Ashu H.Shamy and Tata K.Mbinglo, kept arguing that, if Ayah paul claims he is in support of the SCNC Movement and wants to take lead, he should first hands of every thing he is still attached to in the government of Cameroon. It shall be a whole contradiction if he is existing in a society and not existing at the same time. While a hand full still maintained Ayah is the best choice for the SCNC Leadership position.Secondly, if he wants to be he should first and foremost register in the movement and become a member.

At this level, Ayah, had gone deep right into the inner core of the movement and in an Election thought to have been held in the Divisional headquarters of Meme Division on December 16 2014, Ayah Paul was elected as Chairman of the Southern Cameroons National Council (SCNC). Though, mostly boycotted by invitees and SCNC members especially from the north west region, Ayah Paul was elected and he accepted to be the Chairman. Even as new Chairman, he kept silence on his view about his leadership at the PAP party. He started making commitments through plans of taking the movement to higher heights to the achievement of its goals, " the independence of Southern Cameroons".

Just one day after the Elections in Kumba,Ayah Paul Abine was appointed by a presidential decree signed by Paul Biya as Chief Advocate General of the Cameroon's supreme court. What can an ordinary man deduce from such a political drama? Some would want to ask the question; will Ayah Paul maintain his new elected position as SCNC Chair and deny the prestigious position of Chief Advocate General of the Supreme Court? Or will he maintain the two.

CONCLUSION:

What i know is that, Ayah Paul has always been and is still a member of the status quo. Ayah Paul is still a Magistrate of the Cameroon Supreme Court. He still collects salary every month as Civil servant, he has never turned away from the master. He simply came as a distraction. Therefore, by winning the SCNC chairmanship, he has completely rupture and lacerated the Southern Cameroons' dream for an Independence. He has killed the lion and has taken the teeth to the Master. The Master has therefore given him his promised ransom of the Position of "Advocate Generale en Chef"
